For visibility, I cut eye holes and placed four layers of white mesh behind them and finally glued the irises onto the mesh.Īn issue I ran into was that the visibility through the mesh was not enough, considering the loss of peripheral vision taken into account. Once placed, I carefully glued each shape down. I carefully cut out the shapes formed by the line art and traced each one onto felt, pinning them to the base of the head (created using cardboard and felt). Once selecting the best design, I brought it into Photoshop and created line art of the sketch, printing it out onto letter size paper. I sketched a variety of designs for the face and polled peers on which one they preferred through several rounds of elimination (hence the tally marks near the final designs). The biggest challenge and most design-heavy aspect of the entire costume was his floating dice head with an animated face. I was motivated to create a costume of the secondary villain King Dice. This is a personal project inspired by the video game Cuphead, developed and published by Studio MDHR and inspired by the golden age of American animation.
